Collecting is a practice that many grandmothers are known for. Whether it is tea figurines or decorative spoons, most have fallen into this practice. They are also the keepers of family knowledge and history, masters of invisible labour, and in the case of my paternal grandmother, the one tasked with shelling all of the lobster.
